  Big Al's apparently serves as an entertainment locale in tiny Tatamagouche, a lounge and a casual restaurant. We didn't get to sample all three parts, but we enjoyed the nice, woody bar and got some good food served by a pleasant waitress. The burgers, the fish and chips and the soup and salads were tasty, the prices were right, and the beer was cold. No problems there. If there had been entertainment on the evening we dined there no doubt we would have liked that, too. A congenial stop for hungry locals and visitors, we think.

  45 mins for anything fried is too long. Dark, dingy place and you can scoot further up the main drag for better clams and fish. As a summer cottage owner, would rather go anywhere but Al's. It's a dump.

  We booked a night at the Train Station Inn. We opted not to go to the Dining Car so we wandered up the hill to Big Al's. When we went in there were here men singing and playing guitar in the side room. We decided to take in the entertainment. Boy, we are glad we did!  On top of the fabulous atmosphere and enjoyable music, we had a delicious bacon burger and an order of fish and chips. The burger was great and the fish was gigantic and very tasty.
  
  Well, we didn't want to run off too soon so I got an Irish Coffee and my hubby got a slice of key lime pie. Not bad. Nothing special, but still enjoyable.
  
  We wish we lived closer and could visit more often!  I can guarantee we will return on our next trip through.

  Absolute disaster. I ordered pan fried fish and a salad. It took quite some time to get served. I finally got my meal and was very surprised at the fish. It was very thin and wasn't sure it was even haddock. I told my server this fish didn't look like haddock and she said I could look at the box. I said yes and then she took me to the office where the person there showed me a computer screen for his last order of fish. I said I would like to see the box. He then took me to the kitchen and started using very foul language. We continued downstairs to look at the fish. Turns out the box said haddock. It was frozen and not local. It looked very thin and not like a fillet as advertised. He then told me to get out. He called me a f'n a hole several times and was very aggressive. I feel bad for the server she was quite upset and it was not her fault. In the end I left without eating and my wife had to do the same. I was not expecting that at all, the person from the office could have handled that much better. I did not need to be verbally assaulted.

  It's a lounge.  No doubt about that. Nice atmosphere great service quick delicious and very filling.
  
  I had the firecracker burger and a side Ceasar salad instead of the fries. The wifie had a burger with bacon cheese and ketchup.. She had the poutine. Everything was delicious and ready at our table within 10 minutes
  
  I'd go back in a heart beat
